Columnist's story looking back on Staten Island's first baseball camp draws SILive.com's 'Sports Comment of the Day'

Advance columnist Cormac Gordon's story on a baseball camp started by Harold Reilly Sr. in 1954 elicited fond memories from long-time Staten Islanders.

The idea for a summer day camp was new in those days and the story remembers Reilly's inspiration and imagination in launching the far-reaching project.

One SILive.com user who goes by calvados weighed in on the story and the following opinion is Friday's SILive.com's "Sports Comment of the Day."

"There was nowhere else you could go for a full day of baseball. Many thanks to Harold Reilly Sr. for his foresight and to knowing how much this would mean to the kids of Staten Island."
