Time is running out if you are thinking about submitting a nomination for this year?s Music Nova Scotia Awards. Music and industry award nominations for the 2013 Music Nova Scotia Awards will be accepted until Monday, July 22 at 5pm. No extensions will be given so all nominations must be in on time. For more information and to submit an award nomination for any category, please visit nsmw.ca.Music Nova Scotia may present awards in forty-nine (49) categories, divided into 28 Music Award categories and 21 Industry Award categories. All Nova Scotian artists who are members in good standing and have released recordings between January 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013 are eligible to submit for the 2013 Music Nova Scotia Awards. The only exceptions for providing recordings are DJ of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, Musician of the Year and Digital Artist of the Year, which do not require a recording.
The Music Nova Scotia Industry Awards recognize the achievements and contributions of our industry professionals and leaders from across Nova Scotia over the past year. These awards celebrate the people and companies who are working to build a strong and vibrant Nova Scotia music industry. All Music Nova Scotia members in good standing are eligible to submit.
The final Music and Industry nominees will be narrowed down by a jury of esteemed local music industry professionals with a keen sense of the current market. All nominees will receive a complimentary delegate pass to Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week 2013, which offers access to all showcases (subject to capacity), the educational conference and the Late Night Stage. This is an $85 value.
The nominees in each category will be announced on September 5, 2013. Voting for all awards will also open on this date. Only current members are eligible to nominate and vote so make sure to update your Music Nova Scotia membership now. Winners will be announced during Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week in Sydney, NS, November 7-10th, 2013.
Music Nova Scotia is a non-profit organization that has worked since 1989 with a mandate to encourage the creation, development, growth and promotion of Nova Scotia?s music industry. Music Nova Scotia exists to grow and nurture the Nova Scotia music industry, to retain our own natural resource and promote investment, by providing education, information and resources to the membership; acting as the advocate for the industry to all levels of government and private enterprise; and supporting membership in the promotion of the export of Nova Scotia music regionally, nationally and internationally. Membership is mainly made up of Nova Scotians but some join from other regions of the East Coast as well as across Canada. Members include songwriters, musicians, agents, managers, promoters, distributors, photographers, associations, lawyers, accountants and other industry professionals.
